Migrant boat capsizes off Greek coast, at least 78 dead
At least 78 migrants drowned in the Ionian Sea near the Greek town of Pylos on the Peloponnese during the crash fishing vessel.
Earlier, the TV channel reported about 59 dead. According to ERT NEWS, 104 more people have been rescued in international waters in 47 sea miles southwest of Pylos.
The TV channel cites data from the International Organization for migration, according to which on board the vessel, which probably left four days ago from the Libyan Tobruk, there were at least 400 people. In turn, the Greek news portal newsit.gr cites statements rescued that there were 750 people on the ship.
The rescued were transported to the city of Kalamata. There on Wednesday Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou rushed to to meet the people brought ashore.
