Bison punished tourists for trying to take too close a selfie
Reckless tourists in the American park Yellowstone were almost injured after meeting with a bison. Visitors to the reserve ignored the warnings and got too close to the wild animal.
The woman tried to pet the large animal and take a selfie with it. She touched the head of the beast, and the bison reacted immediately - he tried to butt the tourist. The woman barely managed to jump aside, and her friends fled in a panic.
Yellowstone rules require visitors to stay at least 25 meters away from bison at all times. Taking pictures with animals is also prohibited. Most often, bison attack people in the park, although bears, wolves, and other potentially dangerous animals live here. On average, 1-2 people per year are injured by bison in Yellowstone.
The largest bison herd in the United States lives in the national park - from 2300 to 5500 individuals. Bison are the largest land mammals in North America, weighing over 900 kg. An adult bison can easily knock down a person and inflict serious injuries on him.
