10 sequels of recent years that turned out to be no worse or even much better than the first part (11 photos)
The original is always better than the sequel. This one exists hypothesis, whose fallacy every decade confirms some number of good sequels. And the last 10 years, that is, the period from 2013 year, is not a sad exception. 
Let's look at the top ten second parts, which (sometimes suddenly) turned out to be no worse, if not better than the original. And we they took those couples where the first film certainly cannot be called bad.

In this case, in terms of audience scores, the sequel is still inferior original by one tenth, but you will agree that to create so much worthy continuation with such a hype that was around both parts, it was extremely difficult. And the second "Avatar" is definitely great movie.
As an additional argument in favor of the coolness of "Ways water" note that this is one of only eleven sequels in stories that were nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture.

According to viewer ratings on IMDb, this is the biggest gap in benefit of the sequel in the entire list. Between the original and the sequel it's been 36 years!
Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish (2022)

Suddenly a masterpiece sequel to "Puss in Boots", raising theme of fear of death, was the most highly rated by users Kinopoisk in comparison with the first part. A whole point difference.
