In Thailand, a wild elephant overturned a truck with a driver inside

The incident took place on Saturday evening 80 miles east of Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. The video captured the giant elephant pushing its head and torso against the car and pushing it into the bushes while the driver was still inside.

Frightened bystanders, who later admitted that they "nearly had a heart attack" from fear, pulled back while calling 911. However, the elephant went back into the forest before the rangers arrived.

“The man inside the truck survived, but was bruised from the fall,” Panida Anuan, one of the witnesses, said. - It was so scary. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. We immediately drove off so as not to be next.

Panida added that she called wildlife officials, who began tracking the elephant for fear of another attack. Arriving paramedics delivered the shocked driver with minor bruises from the vehicle's rollover.

Authorities believe the elephant attacked the pickup truck in an act of self-defense because the car tried to continue down the narrow road past the animal instead of stopping and waiting for the elephant to cross the road, which is part of its territory.

Panida said: “We are glad that the driver survived. But we are still afraid to drive this route again.”

In Thailand, there are about 2,000 Asian elephants living in the wild, although there were 100,000 a hundred years ago. About 3,000 more live in captivity and are owned by private individuals. In the wild, elephants roam freely among protected forests, sometimes taking to the roads that run through them.
