A rare and unusual car surfaced on one of the British car flea market. Who will immediately guess what it is about, the brand, model of this cars? I am sure, without looking ahead of the text - a few.

This is not surprising, because the car most of all resembles typical homemade, assembled from what was found in the garage at hand and in nearest auto shop. But for all the absurdity of the machine, this is not homemade, but the brainchild of Fairthorpe cars, a small company from English Buckinghamshire, founded in the early fifties by several enthusiasts, Chief among which was Donald Bennett, nicknamed Pilot, Vice Marshal Royal Air Force.

Fairthorpe cars produced small, low-powered cars, in roadster bodies that claim to be sporty, but let's talk about them some other time, but today - Fairthorpe Electrina, the only closed four-seater sedan in the history of the company, produced, conditionally, serially.

For two years of production (1961-63) they collected only 20 copies, the circulation is small, but there were models in the history of the company, issued in even smaller numbers.

In 1963, only six of these machines were produced, and yet, according to the information of the seller, only two survived from that year of issue Electrins, and this is one of them. It doesn't look good, but the price is 3500 pounds sterling for a car that is essentially unique, does not look sky-high.

In terms of technology, Fairthorpe Electrina is a set various units from the machines that existed at that time, therefore special problems with the repair of the engine, gearbox or bridge should not arise. The engine could be installed from Triumph Herald or Ford-Anglia 105E (such like in a movie with Harry Potter), specifically here the engine is from Triumph.

The body, made of fiberglass, is mounted on a frame, the layout is classic, there is nothing more to say here, but what about the design to speak, then against the background of some English cars of that era, here he's not the worst. Perhaps you have a question - why do you need side handle? This is the handle of the door lock, the lock itself is in body pillar, and not in the door like all normal people, but from the factory most likely it wasn’t, the owner himself prikohozil locks, after staff broke.
