A family from Wales has been living in the middle of a roundabout for over four decades. When a ring road was built around their site, they refused to leave, and now stubbornly remain in their father's house.
In 1960, when David John and Ariane Howatson moved into their bungalow in Denbighshire, Wales, this area was just an ordinary area. Everybody was normal for about two decades, until the authorities informed them that their property was under construction roundabout. The Hovatsons refused to move, so around them houses built a roundabout, and since then the family has lived in its center.
“I've lived on a roundabout for over 40 years, so that's about all I I know. Before that, we lived here for 20 years, this site for a long time belonged to our family,” said Klvid Howatson. - We do not need worry about the neighbors, but life at the roundabout is sometimes tense, especially when the grandchildren stay overnight.
Clweed says that most people who hear that he and his family live in the middle of a roundabout, two questions are usually asked: how he gets to his house (which is easy to understand, given the busy the road from all directions), and is the noise disturbing them a lot?
“I would say that it is like living by any road. It's not like that bad, we have double glazing so it doesn't bother us. Except In addition, the road becomes very busy only during rush hours, that is a couple times a day,” Howatson says. When the Hovatsons drive downtown roundabout, this really takes many drivers by surprise, because in such places no one expects such a maneuver from a machine. But so far, there has not been a single accident because of this. One of the most The biggest problem for the Hovatsons is the delivery of packages. Because the family has the same postal code as surrounding houses, drivers delivery usually takes some time to understand what they are located in the center of the roundabout.
"Usually when we give instructions, I end up saying, 'No, no, we are not at the roundabout - we are in it, inside, ”says Howatson. - But they still do not fully understand what it is about, until they get here."
The house has been in the family for too long, so they're not going to move, current Hovatson representatives say. their house quirky and unique and they love it.
