The newly crowned Miss England spoke about her ambitions become an astronaut and go into space. Jessica Geigen, 27 shows great promise by studying aerospace engineering at the last university course and hopes to inspire girls and women to study STEM disciplines.





Beautiful Jessica, who was crowned two months ago as Miss England, will compete for the title of Miss World next spring of the year. After that, she hopes to change her dress and heels to a space suit, to literally become "Miss Universe" - the first beauty queen and model in space.

Jessica is currently pursuing a master's degree in University of Liverpool and plans to start preparations for a flight to space over the next three years.

“I hope that winning the Miss England pageant, as well as my passion for space will show girls that they can follow their dreams and goals and be who they want,” says Jessica.



“My engineering degree opens up a lot for me. doors, and one day I hope to apply to the European Space agency to make your dream come true,” Jessica continued. - I AM I would like to go into space one day, and I'm on the right track. After, when I get my degree, I will need to work for three years in this industry and then I can apply to become an astronaut. My dream is to visit the International Space Station, to educate children from space and create STEM content there, just like Tim Peake did."



“Engineering is a male-dominated industry and I I want to tell children about various engineering professions and show that women can work in STEM too.” the girl concluded.

Jessica said she wanted to be an engineer from a young age, inspired by her father's work in the industry. At school she was fond of mathematics and natural sciences, and at the age of 15 she signed a contract with with his first modeling agency. She began her graduate studies at at the age of 24 at the same time as a modeling career, because she saw similarities in both professions.



“Both modeling and engineering as careers offer Lots of variety,” says Jessica. Both professions allow me work on different projects every day and work all over the world. The similarities between the two industries is why I chose engineering in as a fallback."



“At the university, my faculty did not yet have a future participant the Miss World pageant, who is also receiving a degree in aerospace engineering, so they think it's great," the girl added.

In August, Jessica won the title of Miss Lancashire, which automatically earned her a spot in the Miss England finals. In that year in Birmingham, she was crowned as Miss England, becoming the first redhead holder of this title, although she was bullied as a child because of her hair color.



After the victory, Jessica said that her self-confidence grew up and she hopes that her personality will help the girls love their differences and inspire them to be more self-confident.

“When I was growing up, there was practically no center of attention people with red hair,” she added. - And soon I will become a model with degree in engineering, and I think that's amazing."



“I always say that you study every day, and study is all my life,” Jessica said. “I want to inspire the next generation.”
