A “curving” glass bridge opened in China
China has a 100-meter "curving" bridge, and many people think it looks too crazy to exist.
The Ruyi Bridge, located in Zhejiang province, was first talked about in 2017, when it opened in 2020.
The project was initially met with skepticism, as the rickety footpaths 140 meters above the ground seemed unrealistic to many.
However, since its opening, it has become a huge tourist attraction, with more than 200,000 brave souls already able to visit it and walk between the two mountains it connects.
The bridge's design was inspired by a jade ruyi, a curved object considered a symbol of good luck in China.
It consists of three wavy lintels, and its flooring is partially made of glass.
Explaining the design of the structure, the creators of the bridge said:
“The bridge's weave creates a thrilling experience for visitors passing across it.”
“The rigid and flexible shape fits perfectly with the natural landscape of the Fairy House, like the jade ruyi in the sky and the fairy dressed in silk.”
