She hid from people in the forest for a year, but having fallen into a trap, she realized that she couldn’t cope without outside help (8 photos + 1 video)

This story began a little over a year ago, when a large black dog was first spotted in a small forest. She would come to people and then disappear for a long time. But recently, the animal returned to people again with a terrible “surprise”: a trap slammed on its paw...

Local residents realized that they needed to help the dog. They called the police and state animal control. For 5 days the officers tried to catch her, but to no avail. At the sight of people, the dog ran into the forest and returned only the next day.

Luckily, someone decided to contact the rescue organization Hope for Paws. They immediately went to the scene and asked the police and control to leave this matter to them. The dog was scared; more people did not make the task easier.

Hope for Paws are incredibly experienced rescuers and they know how to handle these types of situations. First, they decided to gain the trust of the victim with the help of a delicious hamburger.

It’s hard to imagine what this dog went through if she was so afraid of people. For two hours, the rescue girl tried to establish contact with her, but it did not bring results: Hermione, as the rescuers managed to call her, although she ate from her hands, her tail was tucked and her paws were bent. One sudden movement from the girl and Hermione disappeared into the bushes.

Hermione urgently needed veterinary help, and it would take a very long time to gain her trust, so the rescuers decided to act more radically. They went to the hotel where they were staying to get a net. It was with her help that they had to block the retreat route. An action plan was developed and they began to implement it.

It worked. With the help of more volunteers and a very long net, they managed to corner Hermione and put a garrote on her. Now, after a year of wandering, she is saved!

After allowing her to recover a little, the rescuers loaded Hermione into the car and went to the vet. It was necessary to free her from this ill-fated trap.

For 6 long days she suffered and experienced incredible pain, but now, thanks to these wonderful people, everything is left behind. The trap was removed from her paw!

After spending a few more days in the hospital to make sure that Hermione's health was no longer in danger, they set off on a three-day trip to Los Angeles.

Naturally, they stopped at every veterinary clinic to change Hermione's bandages and make sure she was okay. Fortunately, Hermione survived this journey well and while the rescuers were enjoying the beautiful views from the car window, Hermione was fast asleep in the back seat and gaining strength:

Arriving in Los Angeles, they immediately went to Dr. Robert Olds, because only he could save her paw.

Hermione had two more surgeries, during which Dr. Olds picked up the pieces. Now, after a couple of weeks, the result met all the wildest expectations - Hermione could walk normally, stepping on her paw:

Over the next few months, volunteers, veterinarians and Hermione fought against heartworms, which were also discovered in her. During this time, our Heroine completely adapted to her new life and, moreover, even became a foster mother for a litter of kittens.

Now that Hermione is completely healthy, volunteers have begun searching for a new home and a new family for this beauty. She deserves a happy life surrounded by love and care.
