A humpback whale saved a woman from a shark (5 photos + 1 video)
We all know that animals need our help more and more, but we should not forget that we, too, sometimes owe our lives to them.
Nan Houser is a biologist who has dedicated her entire life to the conservation of humpback whales. At 63 years old, she is dedicated to protecting them and has made a film about these wonderful animals. Nan is the director of two organizations - the Center for Cetacean Research and Conservation and the Cook Islands Whale and Wildlife Research Centre.
It was on Cook Island that this amazing incident occurred. Nan was swimming next to the whale when suddenly it began to behave unusually. The whale began to push her out of the water, and she even thought that he was angry. Although whales do not harm people, in some cases they are able to stand up for themselves. The humpback whale nudged her with his nose, swam around her and even tried to cover her with his fin. At first Nan did not understand what caused this behavior, and only then did she notice the shark.
When the woman climbed back onto the boat, she realized that the whale was trying to protect her from the shark and cover her with itself. Her comrades told her that she should get out of there immediately, but Nan could not believe what was happening.
This behavior is very unusual for wild animals; they usually shy away from humans. But this whale not only was not afraid of Nan, but also saved her from a dangerous predator. Sharks usually don't mess with whales because they can jump on them with their entire weight, which is almost 20 tons.
This is not the first time that animals save people from death.
