Marie-Eve spotted this cat on the streets of Montreal. It was clear to the naked eye that he was in desperate need of people's help. And his look could simply break your heart. It seemed that it was impossible to find a more unhappy animal.
Marie-Eve immediately decided that she had to save this cat and change his life. But he had to be caught, and this turned out to be a very difficult task.
The cat was very afraid of people. Apparently, he got a lot from them.
For three weeks he avoided the traps. But when hunger became unbearable, he entered the enclosure with food.
Marie-Eva understood that the cat needed special care and called all the nearest shelters, but she was told that they had no places. Then she went to the veterinarian so that he could examine the cat and shave off the loose balls of hair that were on the cat’s body.
He went to spend the night with a girl. For the first time in a long time, our hero felt warm and safe.
The next day, the Chatons Orphelins Montr?al organization contacted the girl and offered their help. They said that they would be able to cure him and find him a new home (we don’t know for sure, but due to some circumstances, Marie-Eve could not keep this cat with her).
“He had battle scars all over his body and an abscess on his cheek. His ears were frostbitten, which means he spent at least one winter outside. Marie-Eva saved him in time, because he definitely wouldn’t have survived another winter on the street,” said the rescue center workers.
They named him Marcel and found out that he was about 4 years old. Marcel turned out to be a very shy cat and tried not to make eye contact with people.
“He was shocked by such changes in his life. The street turned out to be a very difficult place for him: he lost several teeth, received many scars and frostbitten ears. But he is a very strong cat."
The shelter workers did not want to further traumatize the cat by leaving him at the shelter overnight. Therefore, one of the volunteers decided to take him to her home. And in 24 hours, surrounded by love and care, he turned from a timid and shy kitten into a cat who lies curled up on his lap and purrs in gratitude for his rescue.
Marcel is a big and strong cat, weighing 7 kg, but at heart he remains a little kitten.
Over the few weeks that he spent with his foster mother, he fully revealed himself: he joyfully runs to meet her when she returns from work; he loves to lie on her lap and sleep next to her.
“This sad cat turns into the happiest creature on earth.”
“He has become very sociable and if you start talking to him, he will definitely answer something”
Two months later, volunteers managed to find him a new loving home.
The sadness has completely disappeared from his gaze and now there is only gratitude for his salvation. And only the missing tips of his ears and the scars on his face will remind him of what he had to go through.
