At the Novosibirsk Zoo, two domestic cats became foster mothers (9 photos)
At the Novosibirsk Zoo, two domestic cats became foster mothers to the cubs of a caracal, a serval and a Far Eastern cat.
Domestic cats very often help out the Novosibirsk Zoo. They are wonderful nurses who take care of the young of a wide variety of animals. This summer, two cats, black and white, became foster mothers at the zoo.
These cats appeared at the zoo recently, and at the same time, several female wild cats in the zoo were unable to feed their babies. This happens for many reasons: from health to stress.
Zoo staff brought two tiny servals and a Far Eastern kitten to the black cat, she immediately accepted them, began feeding and licking them. The white cat was entrusted with two caracal cubs, this happened in June. Here, too, everything went well, the domestic cat became their foster mother.
It's safe to say that everything turned out well for these kids. Zoologists and zoo veterinarians, of course, could bottle-feed the cubs. But cats do not only feed them. They warm them, play with them, calm them down, stay with them around the clock and love them like real mothers.
