Kelsey and her mother decided to attend one of the garage sales that was taking place in their home state of Illinois. But for some reason they changed their usual route. In the end, it turned out that this decision became fateful...

From the front seat, Kelsey looked out at the scenery outside the window. Suddenly the girl noticed a strange brown “heap” in the ditch. She asked her mother to stop the car to see what it was.

When the girl approached this “pile”, a chill ran down her spine. It turned out that there was a horse lying in the ditch. The animal was so exhausted that it seemed like it was about to die.

First, the women decided to raise the horse to its feet. Having made every effort, they finally achieved their goal. But it was not possible to load the animal into the back of the car: the horse was too scared.

Then Kelsey decided to walk home with the horse. It took the girl and the animal 4 hours to cover the 14 km that separated them from home.

When they arrived, it turned out that the horse needed urgent medical attention. And this is not surprising, because the animal’s ribs are literally

stuck out.

Apparently, the horse could not stand the way its previous owners looked after it and ran away in search of food.

In addition to exhaustion, Sonny (as Kelsey named her new pet) had problems with his legs and bloodshot eyes.

For 4 nights the girl did not leave her horse until it finally recovered. Now Kelsey spends every free minute with her new friend.

It's great that Kelsey stopped her mom, otherwise Sonny wouldn't be alive. This story evokes conflicting feelings. On the one hand, I’m happy for Sonny and Kelsey, on the other hand, I don’t understand how it was possible to bring an animal to such a state?
