Chicken meat is an excellent source of protein. So, one cup of diced chicken breast contains 43 grams of protein, which helps build muscle and makes us feel strong. Therefore, everyone deliberately chooses this popular meat. Its affordable price also plays a significant role.

However, a recent report from the Oxford Academy indicates a sharp increase in the number and size of white stripes on chicken breasts. While these streaks are completely safe to eat, they do indicate that the chickens have grown too quickly.

In the table below, chicken breasts with the letter A are normal.

The white stripe on them is very small or absent altogether. Breast B has a moderate sized stripe, while Breast C has a large stripe. The presence of white stripes indicates a higher fat content (22% more than a breast without a white stripe) and tougher meat.

The Oxford Academy reports that chicken growth rates have increased by 400% since 1957. The report notes that this growth is largely based on genetics, although in some cases it is associated with the introduction of hormones.

Farmers expose their chickens to hormones and genetic enhancements that cause the chickens to grow at an unhealthy rate, causing muscle dysfunction. Chicken meat is delicious, but don't forget to check it carefully in the store!
