Participants in the annual mass descent of the St. Clair River, which separates the US state of Michigan and the Canadian province of Ontario, accidentally invaded Canada. In total, about 1,500 Americans ended up in the neighboring state. Port Huron Float Down participants descended the river in boats and inflatable rafts, drinking alcoholic beverages, but due to strong winds, many ended up on the other side of the river. The Canadian authorities treated the “violators” with understanding and provided them with warm blankets and a bus to the border.
