Edward Bohlen was a 2,272-ton, 310-foot-long German cargo and passenger ship that ran aground off the coast of the Namib Desert on September 5, 1909.
The ship was built in Hamburg in 1891 and sailed on the route Hamburg - West Africa. However, fast currents and thick fogs characteristic of the coast of the Namib Desert caused the disaster.

2. Attempts to save the ship that ran aground were unsuccessful; the steel cable for towing Edward Bolen by the ship that came to the rescue burst. The passengers survived the accident without injuries and were evacuated.
3. Currently, the wreckage of the ship, rusted and partially buried in the sand, lies several hundred meters from the coastline.
