This new ship is perhaps the world's largest monument to love. And let the absolutely incredible tons and meters fade into the background. The giant container ship, capable of captivating even those far from technology, was named by the shipowner tycoon who built it in honor of his wife, who died last year.
Since the fall of this year, the largest operating ship in the world has been majestically sailing along the oceans of the planet. Built at the end of this summer, the giant container ship is also equipped with the world's largest internal combustion engine. And the capacity of this vessel, estimated according to the standard scheme, is 13.5-14.5 thousand TEU (these units are equivalent to 20-foot containers).
Owner A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, 93-year-old Arnold M?rsk Mc-Kinney Moller, immortalized his wife Emma, who died in December 2005, in the supership. Arnold lived with Emma in love and harmony for 65 years.
Now Emma is a beautiful gray-blue ship, the parameters of which are truly amazing. Its length is 397 meters, width - 56 meters, draft - 15.5 meters. Gross tonnage - 171 thousand tons (gross).
However, for people who are not very knowledgeable about shipbuilding, it is better to imagine the nominal capacity in containers. As we have already said, calculated using standard methods, it is 14.5 thousand TEU, but A.P. Moller-Maersk Group does not count containers that can be loaded onto a ship, but containers that can be loaded exactly full (14 tons each) - it has 11 thousand of them.
As the container ship returned, the masses of people in Denmark watched the leviathan pass near the shore with joy and delight. But one person is sad. It was Arnold Marsk McKinney Möller.
