Capybaras wandered into a legislative building in Brazil

In the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, several capybaras wandered into the local legislative assembly building. The animals sized up the surroundings, took a look at the lawmakers, and left.

The capybaras entered the parliament building in the state capital, Cuiabá, through the main entrance, catching the lawmakers by surprise. The building is located next to a park inhabited by wild animals, so the capybaras likely just decided to expand their range.

Nayara Bueno, a parliamentary staff member who filmed the unexpected visit, tried to guide the animals back to the park. She noted that the animals appear in and around the building quite often, so the staff has grown accustomed to seeing them.

The capybaras caused no damage to the building or harm to the people inside. They stood for a moment, observed the lawmakers, and then wandered off.
