The last moments of a traveler who encountered a bear in Greece (3 photos + 1 video)
61-year-old Christos Stavrianidis was walking along a forest path near the town of Drama with a friend and their dog when he was attacked by a brown bear. The footage, which lasts just 49 seconds, shows the bear lunging at the man.
Stavrianidis used pepper spray, but it didn't save him. The enraged bear literally pushed the man off the cliff.
At the beginning of the video, a man addresses his friend: "Where are you? Come! Come to me!"
The dog barks furiously at the approaching bear, and Christ is already shouting: "Where are you? Come to me. Come to me, I say. Come to me."
"Stop it, Dimitris," a shout is heard, followed by the sound of pepper spray.
The man begins coughing and, a moment later, falls into the ravine, along with the camera.

Dimitris told local media: "My friend and I went to Fraktos Forest. We looked at the plane he'd recently found and then headed back. At the top, he wanted to admire the view. I didn't go with him because I didn't see the point. I was about 10 meters away when I heard, 'Dimitris, go look at the bear.'"
"The bear was six or seven meters away, and when it got closer, Christos sprayed it with a small canister, and it rushed toward me. The dog distracted it, and I managed to spray it with pepper spray."
Dimitris continued: "The bear turned on my friend. He pushed him with his paws and his whole body. He hit him once and disappeared, as if he'd never been there. It was a huge bear, the likes of which I've never seen before. I think it was a large adult male."
The man screamed, hoping Stavrianidis would respond or give some sign. But there was silence. Emergency services arrived on the scene.
A forensic examination determined that the man died instantly from the fall.
