Making a list of weird snacks to try in China: fried rocks, fried ice, bubble coffee with green onions. But the latest innovation has become a huge hit with women, so I'll put it first on the waiting list - spicy bamboo sticks.

China sometimes sets strange trends...

Who invented this food and why

A barbecue restaurant in southern China has gained huge popularity among women by offering 50 spicy bamboo skewers for just 10 yuan. Cheap, listen. On the first day of sales, this dish was selling 100 servings a day, and 30 percent of customers came specifically for them. The bamboo skewers are fried with green onions and chili powder, the recipe resembles fried stones, to be honest.

Let's face it, with green onions EVERYTHING LOOKS DELICIOUS

The owner-chef Ma came up with the idea for the skewers, saying that the point of this dish is to enjoy the taste, not to eat the sticks. That is, yes, chew, suck and spit out, otherwise you'll puncture your stomach. He developed it specifically for women who want to grab a late-night snack, but without the accompanying calories.

"The sticks allow women to enjoy snacks without gaining weight."

You might as well suck on a fried rock, but the girls found the chopsticks more interesting and aesthetic. Oh, these women, sometimes even I don't understand you.

Sucking rocks is not cool, but chopsticks are, remember that if you want to be fashionable in China

Although the rocks are a bit more expensive because they have already become a tourist attraction. A serving of rocks fried in spices on the grill is 16 yuan. But at least this snack has a long history and a beautiful legend.

This is how the stones are served

It was originally created by boatmen on the Yangtze River to gain some energy while working. It gained popularity during the Sino-Japanese War from 1937 to 1945 because people were hungry all day long but had nothing to eat. And eventually, fried stones became a traditional dish in Yunnan, southwest China. Each serving brings in a profit of 4 to 5 yuan after expenses. One customer mentioned that she liked the bamboo skewers and even added mustard for extra flavor.

Grilled ice is the last thing on the list of things I want to try

This cafe has also become very popular because you can always meet a lot of girls who watch their figure there. Some men have started going there in the evenings just to take a closer look. So inedible edible bamboo sticks are a magnet for brides.
