A plane crash occurred in the skies above Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington: a Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft approaching for landing collided with a Sikorsky H-60 military helicopter. There were 64 people on board the aircraft, including four crew members, and three military personnel in the helicopter, which was performing a training flight.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and emergency services have not announced the number of victims; rescue operations have only just begun. Search teams continue to search the Potomac River, where the wreckage of the aircraft fell. The media reports dozens of casualties. There are probably no survivors — Senator Roger Marshall has already called the incident an "unbearable tragedy." According to preliminary data from the FBI, there are no signs of terrorism or criminal intent in the incident.
It is reported that the PSA Airlines plane was flying flight 5342 from Wichita, Kansas, to Washington. The plane was carrying 14 athletes returning from the Prevagen 2025 tournament; the number of coaches and parents of the skaters is not named.
CNN published the conversations between air traffic controllers before the plane crash in Washington. The air traffic controller asked the helicopter crew if they saw a passenger plane, but there was no response from the military
