Cat houses installed at Tashkent International Airport (5 photos)
Houses for street cats have appeared in the green zone of the Tashkent International Airport in Uzbekistan.
— Cats are natural inhabitants of the urban environment, occupying their own ecological niche. Cats have always been at the capital's airport. The benefits of these animals are obvious, in addition to the unconditional aesthetics, they are real hunters who destroy house mice and even rats. We had the idea to install houses for them for a long time, but due to the construction work that has been going on at the airport for several years, this opportunity has only appeared now. Together with the Mushukkent project and students of the Tashkent University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, we developed the design of the houses and installed them in safe places, both for the airport and for the animals themselves, — the official telegram channel of Uzbekistan Airports says.
Students of the Tashkent University of Architecture and Civil Engineering worked on the design of the houses. In addition to the aesthetic appearance, attention was paid to the materials - non-flammable, environmentally friendly and vandal-proof options were used when creating the cat houses.
For the comfort of the furry inhabitants, heating and ventilation of the houses are provided.
— For Uzbekistan Airports, first of all, this is a social project that shows the attitude of the company and its employees to animals. Just as a theater begins with a coat rack, so a country begins with an airport, and cat houses are an indicator of attitude not only on the scale of one company, but also of the city and the country as a whole. We are very happy to support this wonderful initiative and contribute to the activities carried out by animal rights organizations in the country, — the airport press service noted.
The Mushukkent project, which has existed in Uzbekistan since 2019, is installing cat houses, promoting humane treatment of animals in society, controlling the population of street cats, and lobbies for tougher penalties for cruelty to animals.
