Several dozen snakes fell out of a shot down anaconda
In Brazil, a fisherman came across a run-over anaconda and a large number of snakelets on the road.
In Porto dos Gauchos, Brazil, an unknown person hit a pregnant anaconda with his car so hard that its belly ruptured. This was reported by Need To Know.
Fisherman Ederson Negri Antonioli, who came across the crushed snake, filmed the aftermath of the incident on camera. His video showed a five-meter anaconda, from whose belly about 40 snakelets fell out onto the road. Antonioli said that when he found the snake, it was still moving.
According to experts, the anaconda babies look quite developed. It is assumed that she was supposed to give birth soon.
The crushed snake belongs to the green anaconda species. They are ovoviviparous. A female green anaconda is capable of carrying from 28 to 42 snakelets. However, only about five percent of them survive to adulthood. The rest usually fall prey to other animals.
Biologist Henrique Abrahao Charles explained that anacondas are often hit in the Porto dos Gauchos area. The snakes periodically crawl onto roads in search of a warm place.
