Space debris weighing almost 500 kg fell on a village in Kenya
Space debris, believed to be part of a launch vehicle, recently fell in Kenya. A metal ring about three meters in diameter and weighing about 498 kg fell near a village.
A piece of space debris weighing almost 500 kg fell on a village in Kenya. The "glowing metal ring" that fell to Earth could have been part of a launch vehicle. The Kenyan Space Agency said the object, more than 2.5 m in diameter, is the result of 60 years of space exploration. It is noted that upon entering the atmosphere, the ring caught fire and began to glow. Local residents began to fear the fall of other space debris, but the case is considered almost unique. Usually, such parts of spacecraft burn up in the atmosphere or fall into the ocean.
