Another unpleasant incident occurred at the Olympic Games in Paris. This time, the scandal erupted due to judging in the gymnasts' floor exercises.
On Monday, Romanian gymnast Ana-Maria Barbosa was announced as the bronze medalist. However, the girl's joy was short-lived. The US team appealed the review of the scores of their athlete Jordan Chiles, after which it suddenly turned out that the bronze belonged to her, and not the Romanian. Barbosa was eventually moved to fourth place.
The drama of this story was added by the video of the announcement of the athletes' results. At first, the information about Ana-Maria winning bronze appeared on the board, and the girl joyfully straightened the flag of her country, but a few seconds later new results appeared, which caused the Romanian to go into hysterics.
Today, information appeared that the National Olympic Committee of Romania (NOC) and the Romanian Gymnastics Federation appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in connection with their disagreement with the judges' decision. Also, NOC President Mihai Covaliu sent a letter to the IOC criticizing the work of the judges at the artistic gymnastics tournament.
