Innerspace is an old sci-fi movie that just blew my mind. At the time, it was hard to imagine that such a thing was even possible, although now a very similar concept can be seen in the famous Marvel movie - Ant-Man.

1. There were a lot of ideas about who to launch at whom. The most interesting: Michael J. Fox in the body of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dean Martin in Jerry Lewis :)

2. This is a remake of the film "Fantastic Voyage" (1966), for which Isaac Asimov released a novelization in the same year.

3. Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid first met on the set of "The Expanse". The following year, in 1988, they met again in "Dead on Arrival", a romance began, then a wedding, ten years of marriage, a son. And then Russell Crowe appeared, but not for long.

4. Aygo reminds me of someone... Oh! That's Vernon Wells, well known to the general audience for his roles as Wez in "Mad Max 2" and Bennett in "Commando"!

4.1. Initially, the role of Aygo was given to Luca Bercovici, they even filmed several scenes with him. However, then the director and producers decided to replace the actor, considering him not chilling enough :).

4.2. Aygo doesn't say a word in the film. He only screams before his death. I can feel the chills!!1

5. Director Joe Dante described Steven Spielberg's role in the film's production: "He protected us from the studio and other producers, creating a very friendly and creative atmosphere. We had the best equipment, specialists and all the tools for filming. Plus, I had a fellow director on my side who understood the whole filming process and the problems that come with it." Dante and Spielberg had previously worked together on The Twilight Zone (1983) and Gremlins (1984).

6. Ozzie Wexler was played by John Hora, who was the cinematographer on many of Joe Dante's films. Spielberg insisted on Chorus' candidacy despite his skepticism about Dante's idea.

On the right :)

7. It is believed that the first selfie on the big Hollywood screen appeared in Ridley Scott's film "Thelma & Louise". However, here is proof that it happened at least four years earlier in "Innerspace":

7.1. If you dig even deeper, you can see a selfie in "European Vacation" from 1985.

8. The "landscape" of the interior space was made of Jell-O. Now guess - is this product placement or production necessity?

9. It was no coincidence that William Schallert was invited to play the role of Dr. Greenbush, Jack's (Martin Short) attending physician. In 1957, Schallert played a similar role in a film very similar to "The Expanse" - "The Incredible Thinning Man" (1957).

10. What mantra did Tuck use to make Jack jump out of the refrigerator? It's the Japanese Namu-Myo-Ho-Ren-Ge-Kyo.

11. Well, well! So Pendleton is reading the novelization of The Twilight Zone! Why is that? Because director Joe Dante and producer Steven Spielberg both made the film.

12. Rick Moranis was considered for the role of Jack Putter, but it didn't work out (and it would have been interesting!). Two years later, Moranis played the lead role in a film with a similar story - Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Mark L. Taylor (Dr. Niles and Don Forrester) played both films.

13. At ~54:30, Jack hiccups in a very familiar way on his way to the mirror, where he must tidy himself up according to Tuck Pendleton's recipe. This is not just hiccups! This is the famous Hiccup :) performed by Mel Blanc ("The Man of a Thousand Voices"), first croaked in 1940 in the cartoon "Pinocchio" by the cat Gideon. Now you know all about hiccups.

14. On the refrigerator you can read the slogan "Serving the bay area since quake". That is, Bergman's has been in business for over 80 years - it is clear that the slogan refers to the earthquake of 1906.

15. What does Aygo's car number hint at?

Of course, on the miracle hand of its owner:

16. This is the film where Fiona Lewis (Dr. Margaret Kenker) ended her 23-year acting career to devote herself entirely to writing.

17. Victor Eugene Scrimshaw was born on November 30, 1924. Who are they hinting at? Allan Sherman? Or just a wild coincidence?

18. Let's look closely at the details: a printout of an ultrasound is taped to Tuck's portrait on Lydia's desk, and a baby is clearly visible on it. The hint is clear.

19. Meet Joe Dante:

20. Igoe's chase scene with Ozzie Wexler was filmed in two different malls in Los Angeles.

21. Dennis Quaid had some nice things to say about Innerspace: "It's a goofy, goofy comedy that's exactly what people need this summer. It's a silly comedy and I love it. We've played with every stupid cliche here. So when you go to the cinema, just leave your brain at home and enjoy it." As they say: "Sounds like a plan!" :)

22. Budget - $28 million, box office receipts - $42 million. And an Oscar for best visual effects.
