Gina Carano, who was fired from The Mandalorian in 2021, has filed a lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm over gender discrimination. The lawsuit is being financed by Elon Musk.





Actress and MMA fighter Gina Carano is suing Disney and Lucasfilm for illegal layoffs and gender discrimination. She claims she was fired from The Mandalorian for expressing right-wing views on social media. In particular, the company's management allegedly did not like Carano's point of view on the Black Lives Matter movement and her statements about interference in the US elections.



Carano said her male colleagues freely expressed their opinions on political issues on social media and openly criticized Republicans. The management of Disney and Lucasfilm did not impose any sanctions against them. At the same time, Carano’s own comments were regarded as an attempt to incite hatred, as a result of which she was fired.

The actress demands that Lucasfilm return her to the series “The Mandalorian” and pay her at least $75 thousand, as well as punitive damages.





The costs of the lawsuit will be covered by Company X. In 2023, Elon Musk promised to finance all lawsuits by social network users who faced discrimination from employers due to their activities on the platform. X said it fully stands by this position and will "proudly support" Carano's lawsuit.



Carano was fired from Disney in 2021. This happened after the actress published several controversial posts on social networks. In one of them, she compared the current political situation in the United States with Nazi Germany.
