Ford showed a new media system called Digital Experience, which it called the most productive and personalized. The system is based on more efficient hardware and provides access to new features, including video games and the Google Chrome browser. The first model on which it will appear will be the Lincoln Nautilus crossover with a 48-inch display.
The amount of RAM on the new system has been quadrupled compared to the current generation of Ford radios, the volume of main storage has increased eightfold, and graphic information is now processed 14 times faster.
The media system allows the installation of third-party applications - for example, for Youtube, Spotify or other streaming services. Soon it will be possible to equip it with the Chrome browser, which will allow a Bluetooth keyboard to work, and a set of video games is available now.
The new device has a redesigned interface, which is made simpler and more understandable. In addition, the system allows you to customize the display of information on the huge front screen of the Lincoln Nautilus using widgets, and the Alexa voice assistant will help you find information. It is possible to create driver profiles: when one of them is activated, the car will instantly apply a specific set of previously saved personal settings.
It is not specified when exactly Digital Experience will be used on Ford vehicles, but, according to preliminary data, the concern will reserve the new system exclusively for electric vehicles. It is expected that its capabilities will allow owners of electric vehicles to spend time more productively, for example, while waiting for recharging.
Several large manufacturers are now preparing to update media systems. For example, Volkswagen promises to supplement its voice assistant with a chatbot, and Mercedes-Benz cars will receive video games and an on-board assistant capable of responding to emotions.
