Victory dance of resilient Alice (7 photos)

Alice was photographing her sister Lauren on the lawn of their house in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, south-west Wales, when she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her right leg. And she lost consciousness.





An 8-year-old girl stumbled and her limb fell into an approaching lawnmower. The wounds were so serious that his right leg had to be amputated below the knee. But just a couple of weeks before the tragedy, Alice Davis was approved to participate in a dance competition in Los Angeles, where the little dancer was supposed to represent Wales.



But because of the accident, the girl faced the prospect of a wheelchair, not a dancing career. When the doctors told her about this, the baby awakened such an inner strength that not every adult possesses.

Alice's mother Nia, who told the story of her brave child to The Sun, supported Alice. But the girl categorically refused help, wanting to achieve everything on her own.



In August, the girl was fitted with a prosthetic leg at the Prosthetic Limb Center in Morriston, Swansea. There was a long recovery period ahead. But Alice was able to surprise the doctors, because she not only got back on her feet, but returned to dancing less than three months after the operation.



“At first I felt completely different, but over time I got better and I felt more and more like ordinary children,” says the girl.



The little dancer's father, Dylan, who was driving the lawnmower and could not prevent the accident, blames himself very much for what happened:

This is a moment that will stay with me forever. But you can't live in this moment, and as unfortunate and terrible as it is, we have to move forward.



Prosthetist Paul Drayton emphasized that Alice's case is truly unique. After all, the patient not only mastered the prosthesis in an extremely short time, but also returned to her favorite activity - dancing, which she has been doing for five years, in less than three months.



Alice will not be able to take part in the competition, but given her determination and perseverance, she definitely won an important victory - a victory over circumstances and will definitely be able to win others.
