A year later, a plane passenger beaten by Mike Tyson decided to take money from the boxer
A drunk passenger and a friend noticed the boxing star and began to pester him. First, they asked to take a photo together, to which Tyson kindly agreed. Then they began to pester him with questions, to which the boxer did not answer. Seeing that they were being ignored, the young people began to openly bully him and make fun of him. As the athlete’s lawyer later said, Tyson lost his temper only after a water bottle was thrown at him. He did not tolerate this and attacked the offender with his fists.

The official demand of the victim Melvin Townsend, which he sent to Tyson's representatives, states that because of the attack he still (a year and a half later) suffers from severe headaches, and also because of the incident on the plane he lost his job. His lawyers are threatening that if Tyson does not pay $450,000, they will file a lawsuit. Mike Tyson's lawyer, in turn, called the pre-trial agreement sent extortion and said that Townsend would not see any money.
“I received a letter of extortion related to the persecution of Mike by some of the instigators of the incident. There will be no payment for extortion,” said Iron Mike’s lawyer.
