Grandmother lost her husband - but found her outlet in dogs (10 photos)
Sometimes the most unexpected things can become an outlet in our lives. A grandmother from Boston, America, lost her husband and was left alone. But on her way she met salvation - dogs.
This touching story took place in Boston, USA. A young American woman named Alyssa Berkowitz once lived an ordinary life, sitting in the office for hours, and did not particularly like walking in the fresh air. But one day the girl decided to change this - and get a dog. To not only have a faithful friend, but also to walk with him on the street more. This is how she got Kernel, a huge Great Dane, with whom she fell in love at first sight.
The girl began to often walk with her new pet along various hiking trails, and soon decided that many dogs would enjoy such walks. In 2017, Alyssa launched her own dog walking program and began taking entire groups of dogs on “hikes.” At the same time, her Kernel was the main ringleader in each group that the owner walked. It's no wonder that such a good boy attracted the attention of other people - including one elderly couple who became fascinated by Kernel and met Alyssa. After that, they saw each other more than once on walks.
However, soon disaster struck. Alyssa learned that the husband of that elderly woman, Wanda, had died - and the old woman was left alone. She continued to walk the same trails she had walked with her husband to cope with her grief. One day, having met a girl on a walk, Wanda offered her help in walking the dogs - and Alyssa agreed without hesitation. Now grandma goes hiking with them at least once a week.
Wanda helps Alyssa walk the dogs and always takes care of them. She especially fell in love with Kernel - and this is mutual. According to the grandmother, these walks with Alyssa and the dogs help her get through difficult times and cope with the loss of her husband. After all, when we experience grief, we all need support and some kind of outlet that will fill the emptiness in our souls after loss. Dogs undoubtedly appeared in this grandmother’s life for a reason!
