Teachers from Hogwarts who should not be allowed near children (8 photos)
A treasured letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is the dream of all children who have watched or read Harry Potter. How can you not dream about this? This is an amazing world of magic, adventure, true friendship and heroic deeds. Of course, all this is very cool, but what about... the study itself? And if you look at Hogwarts from a slightly more adult and responsible point of view, it is the most dangerous place in Great Britain. The list of mortal dangers could go on for a very long time, but the teachers themselves deserve special attention! If we add a tiny drop of realism to this fantasy, then it is unlikely that parents would send their young wizards to Hogwarts. Among Muggles it is still... quieter.
Dolores Umbridge
The least favorite teacher of most Harry Potter fans. An official assigned by the ministry to an important subject, defense against the dark arts, in order to annoy children and his fellow teachers. It works exclusively according to the textbook (what kind of textbook is there is a separate story) and does not allow students to ask additional questions. She is picky about observing boring little things, is incredibly anti-charming, and constantly gets involved in matters that are not related to her area of responsibility. So she also literally left scars on the skin of the students!
Quirinus Quirrell
He taught children defense against the dark arts, hiding the darkest things in the back of his head. Is this, like, for an end-of-year exam? But in general, this is one of many questions for the director. Was the interview conducted on Skype?
Remus Lupine
A positive character, an excellent teacher, but Hermione was right - he really is a werewolf. Yes, classes are not held on a full moon, but is that normal? He constantly has to go away, he is clearly exhausted from such a life, and yet he still has to check his homework and draw up a lesson plan.
Barty Crouch Jr. as Alastor Moody
Again, Dumbledore is hiring teachers via Skype. Alastor Moody himself would be a frightening teacher with his probably not the most pedagogical methods, but Barty Crouch Jr. is a completely crazy dark magician, ready to do anything for Voldemort. Showed the kids the three Unforgivable Curses, turned Malfoy into a ferret, and Dumbledore was like, “Oh, typical Alastor.”
Rubeus Hagrid
A great character, a wonderful person, but a very dangerous teacher for the health of children. He taught care of magical creatures, choosing far from the most harmless ones. With Hagrid's carelessness well-demonstrated in films and books, it will be extremely difficult for him to keep track of the students, the creatures and their unwanted interactions.
Yes, Malfoy got into trouble himself, but then Hagrid calmly put Harry on the hippogriff and let them fly completely uncontrollably. “Teacher of the Year” is unlikely to be awarded for this.
Zlatopust Lokons
This raises a question not only for Dumbledore (take away the man’s Skype!), but also for Hermione. The best student with developed critical thinking did not notice that Professor Lokons, asking questions about himself and acting out scenes from his books in class, did not really teach them anything? And she didn’t notice all those awkward attempts of Zlatopust to use magic?
Sybil Trelawney
A teacher of divination who remains at Hogwarts solely because she was once able to make a real prediction. Dumbledore values her precisely for this, and not because she can teach someone something. This nuance was immediately noticed by Hermione, who was extremely skeptical about the subject itself. Dumbledore probably introduced it just to keep Sibyl from getting bored. But children won’t tolerate even that.
Bonus: Is Severus Snape a good teacher?
Yes, gloomy, yes, strict, yes, does not like Potter, yes, a double agent. But he knows his subject very well. The fact that the trio of heroes are already making a complex polyjuice potion in their second year is not his merit? Yes, Hermione is a brilliant student, but who laid the foundation?
