The finale of the police chase for a drunk driver in Cheboksary

At six in the morning on May 16, the police received a message about a driver with signs of intoxication in a Mercedes car. The violator did not respond to the lawful demand of the traffic police to stop the vehicle and tried to escape from prosecution. At the intersection of Yadrinsky Highway and Universitetskaya Street in Cheboksary, an attacker collided with a Ford Focus car standing in front of a traffic light.

As a result of the incident, the 28-year-old driver and passenger of the Ford were injured, they were taken to the hospital with injuries. The alleged culprit of the accident was found to be intoxicated; in 2020, a 33-year-old resident of Cheboksary was brought to administrative responsibility for drunk driving, deprived of his rights. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

The Ford passenger subsequently died in the hospital.
