Such fast food can be found on the streets of all Japanese cities. In fact, this is a pancake, but only in Japan it does not look like pancakes we are used to.
Okonomiyaki is also called Japanese pizza or pancakes.
In Russia, pancakes are made with various fillings, in fact, okonomiyaki are just as diverse. This dish can contain anything, but there are still the main ingredients: in addition to the standard composition of pancake dough, cabbage and tuna powder are always present in okonomiyaki.
Well, then anything is added to the pancake: it can be meat, poultry, shrimp, squid, vegetables, fish and even noodles. The filling often varies depending on the area: for example, in Kyoto they traditionally make okonomiyaki with a fried egg and udon, while in the city of Hamamatsu, pickled radish is a must.
The flatbread is fried on a large stove called teppan. Chefs who cook okonomiyaki on the street sometimes prepare up to three thousand servings a day. We invite you to see how skillfully they do it.
