Fortresses that have become part of the landscape (10 photos)
All these buildings were intended for the defense of territories during war. Some of them are ancient, others appeared in the twentieth century. majority of which saw both world wars. But in a special series of photographs, photographed by Mark Wilson, they exude an amazing appeasement. They have been sleeping for a long time and no longer hear the thunder of cannons, no one and without threatening anything.
Wilson took his photographs all over Europe.
All these fortifications have long been completely abandoned.
Most of them are the remains of fortifications on the coast of Britain during the Second World War.
There are military fortifications of Scotland and Wales in the pictures
Belgium, Norway, Denmark, France - the geography of the project is quite wide
The series was called "The Last Frontier"
This is a fortification on Cremond Island in Scotland.
Now they are no longer a threat.
But they are forever part of history.
