"It was a bad idea": eyewitnesses spoke of a stampede in Seoul, which killed more than 150 people (2 photos + 3 videos)

Yesterday, during Halloween celebrations in Seoul, a wild stampede broke out in which dozens of young people died. According to the latest data, their number has increased to four (previously three deaths were reported). An eyewitness to the tragedy explains that in this tragedy one can see the effect of the crowd, and not some pop idols or third-party reasons.

Yesterday's stampede tragedy in Seoul's famous Itaewon district left at least 154 people dead and another 103 injured. Among the dead, as the media explain, are 20 foreigners, but the numbers continue to change.

Unfortunately, several dozen people are still missing, so the number of victims may increase.

An eyewitness to the tragedy explains that the version that people saw the pop star and ran after her, forming a stampede, is not true. As well as the widespread rumors about illegal drugs allegedly being added to drinks, because of which young people behaved inappropriately. Those present in the square where the tragedy unfolded believe that it was caused by the crowd effect. Too many people gathered in one place. In this case, it is enough for someone to start moving, and the domino effect will work.

According to Nikolai, in the first minutes, doctors and rescuers simply did not have the opportunity to get to the victims, so in the end, most of them died by suffocation. Other eyewitnesses say that for some time the residents of Seoul did not understand what was happening at the Hamilton Hotel. People thought that a fire had started.

And this is a video from the epicenter of the crowd. How was it possible to get out of this “meat grinder” without losses? Moreover, the crowd of celebrating people descended into a narrow alley - about four meters wide. The road goes down there, narrowing. Therefore, it was simply impossible to miss the crowd of people.

Local residents also blame the management of establishments located next to the Hamilton Hotel. They did not let people in after the panic began and, thus, did not help those who could wait out the time in a safe place to escape.

Be that as it may, the Seoul authorities continue to understand the causes of the tragedy, and the special operations center is still receiving reports of missing persons. By this time, more than 4,200 applications have been received. All 154 victims have now been identified, except for one deceased. But given that among the wounded there are those whose condition is assessed as serious, it is likely that the death toll will increase in the coming hours and days.
