A cold cyclone has arrived in North America and now the eastern states of the United States are experiencing unusually low temperatures (10-15 degrees below zero). And at Niagara Falls, an “ice age” has generally set in: the spray freezes right in the air, settling on stones and trees and creating the illusion of freezing the water stream itself. Thousands of tourists come to see this unique spectacle.

Usually in December the temperature here does not drop below -2 Celsius

But this year something went wrong

Streams of people come to Niagara from both Canada and the United States to see such a rare phenomenon with their own eyes.

Niagara Falls has frozen over before. Such cases were recorded in 1848 and 1912

The subzero temperature is aggravated by the piercing wind, which makes the cold feel more intense

This is what freezing water dust looks like in the air

In New England, Northern Pennsylvania and New York, people had to remember that warm winter clothing existed

Manhattan, New York

Heavy snowfall in Pennsylvania

165 cm of snow fell in four days

The unusually cold weather will continue for at least another week. Authorities are asking people to wear appropriate equipment when leaving home and to keep pets away if possible.
