“Diamonds are a girl's best friend” is a famous song from the musical and film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Well, it’s time to meet the largest, rarest, and most importantly, the most dear “friends” in the world. These stones stand like entire cities and are distinguished not only by their fabulous prices, but also by their incredible colors, impeccable shape and rich history. Ehhh... there's no harm in dreaming.


1. Diamond “Pink Star” at Sotheby’s auction in London. This is a 59.60 carat pink diamond that is considered the most expensive ever to be auctioned. On November 13 this year in Geneva, the diamond sold for a record amount of $83 million. (Andy Rain/EPA)
